Page, The Book store Dog is the love of our lives. They don't come any better than this 1/2 Black Lab and 1/2 Kerry Blue Terrier. The parents were neighbors and "in-love". Page has an adaptable personality - equally at home in our condo now at age 11 as she was in the book store in her earlier years. She just lays down, expects people to step over her and hopes the neighbors will pet her on their way by. She doesn't attack whatever other pets we happen to have with her and enjoys her "cousin" dog visits. At 11, Page's vet bills are sending us back to work but she is our love. Shown here, she is checking out our neighbors from her 1st RV trip. She settled in very nicely - never a problem traveler.
Our newest pet companion is Nibbles, a 3 month old Quaker Parrot. We had a cockatiel for 11 years but this is our first attempt at a parrot. We refer to Nibbles as our "nursing home pet"...they can live 30 years and at this age, we don't expect to get another attempt to raise a baby! This was taken today, September 6, 2007 after he went into the shower for the first time and then I put him on top of the medicine cabinets to warm up. He didn't seem to enjoy or hate the shower - he just sat on the soap holder and let me sprinkle him a bit. We're hoping to enjoy him tremendously as he grows up and learns lots of tricks and words.
This is L. Frank Blom - named for L. Frank Baum (the author of the Oz books & more) because I specialized in Oz books in the book store in Holland, MI. Frankie enjoyed entertaining kids in the store when he visited. He lived to only 11 - we're not sure why but we buried him right outside our condo in FL and Bob put a statue over his burial site. We miss him whistling "Row Row Row Your Boat" and saying "POOR FRANKIE" when we put him in the car to go to Sandy Pines, our camp site for a number of years. Nibbles will have to go some to take over our hearts like Poor Frankie did.
